UPSL Rebrands A League as Division 2 Ahead of Fall 2026 Season

June 5th, 2026

New name creates a clear competitive pathway across the UPSL pyramid: Division 2, Division 1, and Premier

The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) today announced that its A League will be officially renamed Division 2, effective with the Fall 2026 season. The change creates a clear, intuitive competitive structure across the league’s pyramid — Division 2, Division 1, and Premier — giving clubs, players, coaches, and fans a natural progression as they climb the UPSL ladder.

The rebrand reflects the league’s continued growth and its commitment to providing a transparent pathway for clubs to develop, compete, and rise through the levels of competition.

Division 2 serves as a vital training ground for clubs working toward meeting the minimum standards required to compete at the higher tiers, giving organizations the structure, support, and runway needed to grow into Division 1 and Premier-level operations. It is also an environment built for younger players to get their first taste of adult soccer in a genuinely competitive setting — without the heightened pressure and demands of Division 1 and Premier — allowing them to develop, learn the men’s game, and earn their step up when they’re ready.

“Renaming the A League as Division 2 gives our clubs a cleaner, more recognizable ladder to compete on,” said Nick Webster, Executive Vice-President of the UPSL. “From Division 2 to Division 1 to Premier, the pathway speaks for itself. It’s a structure that rewards ambition, hard work, and the clubs that are willing to push themselves to the next level.”

The new structure takes effect with the Fall 2026 season kick-off.
