January 31st, 2024

One of the brightest attacking sides in the UPSL is all set for their trip to Irvine, California to compete at the UPSL National Finals. With an undefeated home record and three players with 8 or more goals, St. Louis City SC go into the weekend with one goal in mind, to win and bring home the national title. Representing the Southeast Region, St. Louis City have had to overcome some of the UPSL’s toughest opponents, from south Florida all the way up to northern Virginia.

Ahead of his team’s upcoming National semi-final game this Friday, St. Louis City SC Academy Director Dale Schilly spoke about what it’s taken for his team to get this far.

“This St. Louis City SC U20 side is raring to go, and very excited for the National Finals. We played a lot of great competitive teams to get to this stage, and we feel as if we have improved each game throughout the regular season and these playoffs. Our motivation in joining the UPSL was to give our young players as many challenges and varied experiences as possible, and this competition has done just that.”

After a Quarterfinal showdown between two of the UPSL’s best attacking teams, St. Louis City Academy secured their spot at the Finals with a 1-0 win over Florida Premier SC. The team has scored 14 goals in the last four playoff games and is showing no signs of slowing. With 51 goals scored this season, St. Louis City has one of the highest goal scoring records in the UPSL.

“Our UPSL playoff journey has provided this group with many difficult and unconventional challenges. This upcoming National Final is something we have prepared for all season, and we are hoping to rise to the occasion. Columbus Crew SC have a very good team and we are hoping to overcome yet another big challenge with this talented group we have.”
