UPSL Spring 2023 National Finals Preview – AS Frenzi

August 3rd, 2023

This weekend, four of the best-semi pro teams in the nation are set to compete for a National Championship at the UPSL National Finals. One of the four teams set to travel is a top pro-development program from the Orlando area, representing the Florida Central Conference.

AS Frenzi (9-1-1) are one of the highest scoring teams in the UPSL with 50 goals in just 11 regular season games. The team has conceded only 8 regular season goals all season and are on an incredible playoff run that has seen them score 13 goals in their last 4 games.

Led by Head Coach Tyler Weston, the team is made up of several high-level youth players from the Florida area. The team’s top goal scorers Yan Diomande and Blair Dorman, with 11 goals each, were born in 2006 and 2005 respectively. Coach Tyler Weston explains what it means for this team to get this far in the competition.

“What we are most proud of is being able to put together this club and create a platform for our young players to perform on a national stage. Getting our talented players the opportunities and exposure they deserve is something we value highly.”

“It means the world for a club like ours to make it all the way to the National Finals and we are enjoying every minute of it. After a very successful Spring season, winning it all would finally prove that this group of young men are worthy of being national champions.”

Ahead of this Friday’s National Semifinal match against top team Chicago Nation FC, Frenzi will look to continue their high-scoring form. In their last game against KY/TN Champions Tennessee Tempo, AS Frenzi won by a 6-goal margin. The team currently has four different players with double figure goals this season—all born in either 2005 or 2006.

The AS Frenzi vs. Chicago Nation FC match can be viewed live this Friday on the official UPSL YouTube channel. Match coverage begins at 5:10pm EST / 2:10 PST. The National Championship match is set for this Sunday, August 6th with coverage beginning at 3:10pm EST / 12:10pm PST.
