UPSL National Finals Spring 2022 Preview – Queensboro FC II (New York City, NY)
The UPSL National Finals are here! This week, four of the best pro-development teams in the county face-off to determine who wins the UPSL National Championship for the Spring 2022 season.
USL-affiliated side Queensboro FC II (New York City, NY) are one of the best pro academy teams in the country, outlasting the likes of MLS academies like LAFC and Atlanta United this postseason.
Queensboro FC II (8-1-1) are the UPSL Northeast American Conference Champions and finished the Spring season undefeated at home. Forward Jonathan Santillan has been averaging almost a goal a game and the team is on an incredible 10 game winning streak. 18-year-old attacking midfielder Minguk Seo has also been turning heads with his 6 goals and 9 assists this season.
Based in Queens, NY the team serves as the second team for USL Championship side Queensboro FC. Diego Gomez, head coach of Queensboro II explains what this UPSL season has been like for the USL club.
“We are very happy about this season, very intense competition. This level simulates the pro game, and we’ve had very tough games against teams with pro coaches and former pro players.
The regular season saw Queensboro dominate the league, conceding the least amount of goals and only dropping points twice. They have shown no signs of slowing down this playoff run, scoring 17 goals in just 5 games.
The Finals, held this year at the Historic Columbus Crew Stadium, is set to feature two semi-final matches on Friday, August 5th and the National Final on Sunday, August 7th. Queensboro FC II and Beaman United FC kick off this Saturday at 7:00PM. Watch for free, live on the official UPSL YouTube.
