August 2nd, 2022

The UPSL National Finals are set to begin this Friday, August 5th as four of the best pro-development teams in the county face-off to determine who is crowned UPSL National champion.

Orange County FC, who finished the regular season with an impressive 42 goals in 12 games, are coached by US Soccer Hall of Famer Paul Caligiuri and are looking to bring home their first national title.

Based in Irvine, California, Orange County FC (8-3-1) are the SoCal North Conference Champions and have put up strong performances this postseason, taking down LAFC in the SoCal North Conference Final.

Forward Jose Montes De Oca has 11 goals this season and has two goals in this last two games. Captain Cody Shelton has also been leading the frontline this season, scoring 6 goals for far, including a goal and an assist in his last appearance.

Head Coach, Caligiuri spoke about the level of competition en route to a National Finals spot in Columbus.

“We had a very tough road coming out of California. The margins for victory are very, very thin. Players in this part of the country realize that this is the best competition at the semi-pro level, so this region has always been incredibly competitive.”

The Finals, held this year at the Historic Columbus Crew Stadium, is set to feature two semi-final matches on Friday, August 5th and the National Final on Sunday, August 7th. Orange County FC and Dodge City Toros kick off this Friday at 8:30PM. Watch for free, live on the official UPSL YouTube.
