UPSL National Final Preview – Olympians FC (Phoenix, AZ) vs. SCU Heat (Columbia, SC)
Today, the UPSL National Finals are set to be decided between two undefeated teams as Arizona top team Olympians FC (9-1-0) play Mid-Atlantic Champions SCU Heat (10-0-0) to see who is crowned Fall 2022 National Champion.
Before the Final takes place, the third-place match will be decided between New England’s top semi-pro side Santa Cruz FC (8-0-2) and West Texas top team Rush ACM3 (4-2-2).
After a dramatic Semifinal round on Friday that saw both games decided by one goal and 10 goals scored across both matches, the action continues today for all four teams.
On Friday, SCU Heat were able to get a narrow 1-0 victory over Santa Cruz FC through forward Alejo Binaghi, who now heads into the Championship game leading his team with 6 goals this season.
Olympians FC were able secure a thrilling 5-4 victory over Rush ACM3 with playoff top goal scorer Dawoda Sesay adding to his tally within the game’s opening minutes. A dramatic back and forth ensued with eight different players in total scoring.
Today, two strong attacking sides will be on display in what is expected to be a fast-paced championship match between two undefeated teams. The professional soccer-grade pitch and first-class facility at Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine, California serve as a beautiful backdrop for the National Championship event.
