UPSL Champions Cup 2022 Finals Preview
Today, the UPSL Champions Cup Final kicks off at 8PM EST from ESTADIO OLÍMPICO DE QUERÉTARO in Querétaro, Mexico. Watch live, for free on VYRE Network, as two of the best teams in the UPSL leagues face off to claim the first-ever Champions Cup.
After an incredible match day 3 yesterday, 24 goals were scored in the final round of group stage play. In Group A, Penamiller FC (3-0-0) advance with a perfect record after taking down Davis Legacy (1-1-1) in a four-goal win. Set to join them in the Finals are Group B leaders Deportivo Teziutlan (2-1-0), who advance after handing Chicago Nation (1-1-1) their first loss of the tournament.
This makes the first-ever UPSL Champions Cup final an all-UPSL MX encounter and a rematch of the 2022 UPSL MX championship match, Deportivo Teziutlan against Penamiller FC. After fairly even play amongst all sides on opening day, US teams Davis Legacy and Chicago Nation both found themselves fighting for first at the end of matchday 2. Saturday, matchday 3 provided even more drama as Idaho Cutthroats (1-1-1) took down Bengalas San Luis 8-1 to leapfrog Davis Legacy on goal differential. This earns Idaho Cutthroats a third-place game against Altiplano FC (1-2-0).
The final matchday of the UPSL Champions Cup will see Deportivo Teziutlan play Penamiller FC for the Champions Cup trophy at 8pm. For the third-place game, Idaho Cutthroats and Altiplano FC kick off at 6pm.
