Junior Rosero (NY Renegades) Shines in TST Million Dollar Tournament, Ties Record for Most Goals in Game
Junior Rosero, standout forward for the New York Renegades in the UPSL, made a major impact at this year’s edition of The Soccer Tournament (TST), a high-stakes, million-dollar prize competition held annually in Cary, North Carolina. Representing Premier League side AFC Bournemouth’s TST team, Rosero lit up the group stage by scoring four goals—earning the distinction of top scorer during that phase of the tournament. He also tied the all-time TST record for most goals scored in a single game, showcasing his finishing ability that he has already shown in the UPSL for the last few seasons.
Rosero’s impressive TST performance is no surprise to followers of the UPSL, where he has built a reputation as one of the most consistent and prolific goal scorers in the league. Competing in the UPSL Premier Division for multiple seasons, Rosero has earned East Region top scorer honors on a four separate occasions, including an 18-goal campaign in Spring 2022, a national-best 24 goals in Fall 2022, another 18 goals in Fall 2023, and 15 goals the Spring 2024 season. His consistency in front of goal has been central to the success of the New York Renegades as they push for a UPSL National Championship.
In reflecting on his UPSL journey so far, Rosero embraces the role and expectations that come with being a target forward. “As a striker, the pressure is on your shoulders to produce and I love that pressure, and there is a balance you need to maintain to deal with that,” he said. “It’s all about learning to bounce back and focus on the next play or the next game when things don’t always go your way.”
Rosero remains grateful for the platform the UPSL has provided him and is determined to continue climbing the ranks. “I’m very happy to win multiple national regular season top goal scorers awards,” he said. “I’ve been playing in this league for a few seasons and my job at the end of the day is to score goals for my team, so I’m very thankful for the opportunities I’ve gotten at the UPSL. I hope to continue to achieve a lot more.” With each new challenge—whether it’s dominating in league play or rising to the occasion in a global competition like TST—Rosero proves he’s more than up for the task.
