From UPSL to Spain: Parker Byas (Alexandria Reds) Joins Sevilla FC Academy
Alexandria Reds player Parker Byas has taken a significant leap in his career by joining the Sevilla FC Academy, the Baltimore, Maryland-born winger is now set to play with the Sevilla FC D team. Before making the move overseas, Byas competed in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Premier Division in the DMV South Conference, in 2023 and 2024. His impressive performances at the semi-professional level helped earn him a spot in an international-filled Sevilla FC D squad, a major milestone for the young American talent.
Since arriving in Spain, Byas has already begun to adjust to the heightened level of play. “It’s been amazing. Coming here, the game is faster paced, the level and the intensity is just way quicker than back in the States.”
Byas embraces the challenge, using his trademark aggression, speed, and power to acclimate to the competitive European environment. His playing style fits well within the structure of Sevilla FC’s developmental program, which emphasizes tactical awareness and physical resilience.
Reflecting on his journey, Byas expressed gratitude and optimism. “It’s incredible. Coming here is like a dream come true,” he shared. The young attacker has also taken time to explore the historic city of Sevilla. Off the pitch the move has allowed him to experience life abroad in a way few young American players have, enriching his development both personally and professionally.
Byas also offered some advice for aspiring players back home: “My advice to other players would be to keep chasing your dream and stay positive.” His path from local UPSL matches to training under the guidance of one of Spain’s historic clubs stands as proof of what determination and perseverance to the game can bring.
