Beaman United FC (Nashville, TN) vs. Lakeland United (Lakeland, FL)
This weekend, two of the best teams in the East face off for a spot in the UPSL National Semi-finals. Beaman United FC, who dominated the KY-TN Conference with 52 goals in 10 games, face off against Lakeland United, who are on a win-streak, undefeated in their last four matches.
Beaman United FC (8-1-1) finished the season Kentucky-Tennessee Conference champions and top of the KY-TN Conference table, with an undefeated record on the road. The team from Nashville, Tennessee have been dominant all season and have two forwards with double digit goals. Beaman United Head Coach Gift Ndam shared with us what the club’s first season in the UPSL has been like.
“We understand that no team in this league is an easy team, and we have to compete every game. Every team so far has been relentless in attack.”
Their last match was an incredible nine goal game against Georgia FC in the Round of 16. Beaman were able to score three in the second half after being down 3-0 at halftime. They then scored another three in extra time to seal the 6-3 win.
“Georgia FC were one of the beast teams we have every played against. I told the boys they have to earn every win, these teams are bringing the best out of us. We enjoy facing teams that force us to show up and play hard. You don’t get that anywhere else in other leagues, this level of competition.
Lakeland United (4-2-4) finished the Spring season as the Florida West Conference champions. Despite finishing fifth in the Florda West regular season, they are currently on an undefeated streak and have only conceded three goals all playoffs.
“The last three games of the spring season we lost in a row, but since the playoffs have started, we are on a four-game win streak. Some games we haven’t played to the best of our ability, but every match we fight hard and leave it all on the field.” Head coach, Tauan Salgado explained.
“This National title for us would be validation for the huge effort the whole club puts in every season. That mentality of always fighting and giving your best, leaving it all on the field—that has been the difference-maker for us this season. Win or lose, we stick to our game, our mentality and our philosophy.”
